International Prepaid Phone Cards for the Brave Men
Almost certainly, people who are at a distant far would
dare to take even a pint of salt just to connect to their families and
special ones. To pine for something and grieve for someone who is not
around is normal and an inherent part of human nature. It is hard to
escape because an individual who suffers this phenomenon would primarily
battle against himself before overcoming the complete emotional trend
disturbing him.
Perhaps many concerned citizens had realized this phenomenon while identifying
themselves being in the shoes of those brave men designated in several
parts of the world in furtherance of military duties and obligations
that they have sworn to perform in the name of the United States of America.
Series of news reports or articles had demonstrated an affirmative movement
toward a concerted effort of producing some gifts for the US soldiers
that can hardly be home for the Holiday Season. What did they come up
with? They all bought prepaid phone cards that they will give as gifts
to American men in uniforms around the globe.
Although the name of AT&T alone becomes popularly recognized for
the benevolent and generous program, there are other groups equally philanthropic
as AT&T is. The Durant Chamber of Commerce, VFW Post 3916, Masonic
Lodge No. 45, and the Choctaw Nation collaborated to fulfill the munificent
agenda to raise an amount of $2,500.The Health Occupations of American
members from Durant high school likewise donated some cards. The groups
pursued to take the action after knowing that the soldiers are just sharing
common phone cards to contact their respective families in the United
States. They wanted to give these soldiers their individual phone cards
so they would not need to allocate a card for their common individual
use. The solicitation and fund raising program succeeded and was able
to generate funds that were subsequently used in purchasing phone cards.
Each soldier is seen to receive two pieces of seventy- five- minute phone
cards.
The local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, El Marinero,
has donated $1,625 to purchase international prepaid phone cards specifically
for wounded American service men and women at in Germany. Boston College
High school was able to bring up some financial support for the program
as well.
The benevolent fund raising movement was first inspired what happened
with one named Sgt. Bryan Fletcher, whose phone bill reached $7,600 when
he was serving the military. His mobile carrier, T-Mobile had subsequently
credited him the amount.
The USAA Foundation had given $250,000 to the United Service Organizations
Inc. 22,500 phone cards in trying to assist soldiers to stay connected
to their loved ones since the Thanksgiving Day to the Holiday Season.
According to news report, AT&T mobile network will dispense out
approximately half of the phone cards to soldiers deployed in Iraq, Kuwait,
Afghanistan and Spain. The officials of the United Service Organizations
Inc. will donate the remainder through distribution hubs stationed in
South Korea, Japan, Germany and Italy.
With international prepaid calling cards, the distance is made one-click
away through mobile technology. Connections are possibly completed and
bridged by the advent of mobile technology and phone cards. |
